Manitoba Children’s Special Allowance Settlement

The Children’s Special Allowance class action settlement was approved in September 2024 and provides a $445.2 million settlement for eligible provincially funded children in Manitoba CFS care. Claims opened January 6, 2025 and must be submitted by January 5, 2027. A separate settlement covers the Métis agency class; Manitoba’s broader policy resolution was reported at $530 million.

People who were provincially funded children in the care of a Manitoba Child and Family Services agency, other than a Métis agency, at any time between January 1, 2005 and March 31, 2019 may qualify under the Flette and Lavallee classes, subject to the official definitions and exclusions.
