What's on this page
August 2026 benefit dates include Ontario Trillium on August 10, CDB and CCB on August 20, NLDB on August 25, CPP/OAS and Alberta family benefits on August 27, and veteran disability pensions on August 28.
August 2026 has scheduled payments for the Canada Child Benefit, Canada Disability Benefit, Ontario Trillium Benefit, Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit, Alberta Child and Family Benefit, CPP, OAS, GIS, the Allowances and veteran disability pensions. The next Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment is in October, so August is a good month to check your account, tax filing and eligibility rather than wait for a deposit that is not scheduled.
Canadian benefit payment dates in August 2026
Payment dates come from the Government of Canada's 2026 benefits calendar, checked July 27, 2026. Direct deposits and cheques can arrive at different times.
| Date | Payments scheduled | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| August 10 | Ontario Trillium Benefit | Ontario residency, tax filing and the rent, property-tax or energy information used for your credits. |
| August 20 | Canada Disability Benefit and Canada Child Benefit | Disability Tax Credit approval, 2025 tax return, children in your care and family income. |
| August 25 | Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit | NL residency, disability-tax-credit status and income rules. |
| August 27 | CPP, OAS, GIS, Allowance, Allowance for the Survivor and Alberta Child and Family Benefit | Contribution history for CPP, age and residence for OAS, income for GIS and Alberta family-benefit details. |
| August 28 | Veteran disability pension | Veterans Affairs Canada service, disability assessment and recipient information. |
August 10: Ontario Trillium Benefit
Ontario's August Trillium payment is scheduled for August 10, 2026. The OTB combines the Ontario energy and property tax credit, Northern Ontario energy credit and Ontario sales tax credit. Eligibility depends on the credit, your income, age, location and housing or energy costs.
Your tax return and the Ontario benefit information attached to it drive the calculation. Renters and homeowners should keep rent receipts, property-tax records and eligible energy documents in case the CRA or Ontario needs support for the claim. Read the Ontario Trillium Benefit rules if your payment changes or stops.
August 20: Canada Disability Benefit
The Canada Disability Benefit is scheduled for August 20, 2026. For the July 2026 to June 2027 payment period, the maximum monthly amount is $204.20, but the benefit is income tested and many recipients receive less than the maximum.
The main checklist is simple: you need approval for the Disability Tax Credit, a filed 2025 federal tax return and the required Canadian status or residency. If you have a spouse or common-law partner, their 2025 return can affect the assessment. Check the official Canada Disability Benefit amount page for the current rules.
August 20: Canada Child Benefit
The Canada Child Benefit is also scheduled for August 20, 2026. The July 2026 to June 2027 benefit year uses your 2025 adjusted family net income. The maximum annual CCB is $8,157 per child under age 6 and $6,883 per child aged 6 to 17, before income reductions and other changes.
Your family must live with and care for a child under 18, and the CRA must have current tax and status information. A child turning 6, a change in custody, a new spouse or a move can change the payment. The CRA CCB amount page shows the reduction rates and the Child Disability Benefit rules.
August 25: Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit
The Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit is scheduled for August 25, 2026. It is a provincial benefit administered by the CRA for eligible residents with the Disability Tax Credit. The amount depends on family income and the program rules, so the date alone does not indicate the amount you should expect.
August 27: CPP, OAS, GIS and the Allowances
The August payment date for CPP and OAS is August 27, 2026. That date also covers the Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor. CPP is based on contributions and the age you start the pension. OAS is based mainly on age, legal status and years of residence in Canada after age 18. GIS and the Allowances add income testing.
For 2026, the maximum CPP retirement pension at age 65 is $1,507.65 per month. For July to September 2026, the maximum OAS pension is $751.97 per month for ages 65 to 74 and $827.17 for ages 75 and older. Most recipients receive less than the maximum because their contribution or residence history differs. See the CPP amount page and the OAS payment page for the current calculations.
August 27: Alberta Child and Family Benefit
Alberta's Child and Family Benefit is scheduled for August 27, 2026. The benefit is income tested and tied to your family situation. Alberta families who file their tax returns and qualify for the provincial program can receive the payment through the CRA schedule.
August 28: veteran disability pension
Veterans Affairs Canada lists August 28, 2026 as the payment date for veteran disability pensions. The amount depends on the disability assessment, service connection and family situation. Check the current Veterans Affairs Canada rate tables if you need to compare your payment with the published rates.
Payments that are not scheduled in August
The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit has no August payment. The remaining 2026 payment date is October 5. The Advanced Canada Workers Benefit also has no August payment; the next scheduled date is October 9. The former GST/HST credit is now the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, so do not expect an old GST/HST payment date in August.
The official benefits calendar lists all federal dates, including the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and Advanced Canada Workers Benefit. The CGEB page also shows the quarterly schedule and the July 2026 transition.
Why your payment can change
- Your 2025 tax return or your spouse's return was filed, reassessed or processed after the last payment calculation.
- Your family income, marital status, custody, address or province changed.
- A child turned 6 or 18, or a Disability Tax Credit approval started or expired.
- Your CPP contribution history, pension start age or OAS residence history changes the amount.
- The program pays a provincial benefit through the CRA but uses its own eligibility rules.
What to do before the payment dates
- File any outstanding 2025 tax return and make sure a spouse or common-law partner files where required.
- Update your address, marital status, dependants and direct-deposit information in the relevant government account.
- Use CRA My Account or My Service Canada Account to see the expected amount and payment statement.
- Wait 5 to 10 business days before reporting a missing payment, especially if you receive a cheque.
- Use Canooq's Canadian Benefit Eligibility Checker to screen for federal, provincial and territorial programs you may have missed.
Bottom line
The key August dates are August 10 for Ontario Trillium, August 20 for CDB and CCB, August 25 for the Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit, August 27 for CPP, OAS, GIS, Allowances and Alberta's child benefit, and August 28 for veteran disability pensions. Mark the date that matches your program, then check the expected amount in your government account. The next CGEB payment is in October, not August.
