What's on this page

Google's Pixel 11 family adds Tensor G6, 256 GB starting storage, brighter Pro displays, stronger cameras, and new Gemini tools. Pixel 11 starts at CA$1,249, Pro at CA$1,499, and Pro XL at CA$1,799, with up to CA$800 back and a choice of Pixel Watch 5 discount or Google Store credit on Pro purchases through August 27.

Google has opened pre-orders for the Pixel 11 family in Canada, and this one is looking quite interesting. The standard Pixel 11 starts at CA$1,249. The Pixel 11 Pro starts at CA$1,499. The Pixel 11 Pro XL starts at CA$1,799. Google has also attached its best launch incentives to the Pro models: an eligible trade-in can return up to CA$800, and buyers can choose CA$350 off the Pixel Watch 5 or CA$275 in Google Store credit. The offer ends August 27.

The Google Store Pixel 11 Pro page gives Canadians an easy way to buy an unlocked phone, apply a Google trade-in, and claim the launch bonus in the same order. I checked Google's Canadian product and comparison pages for this review. The short version: Pixel 11 brings more starting storage, a new Tensor G6 platform, brighter Pro displays, a more ambitious camera system, and a more useful set of Gemini features. A good trade-in can make the Pro models much easier to justify, especially if your current phone is in good shape.

Google Pixel 11 review: the verdict first

The Pixel 11 looks like a stronger phone than the Pixel 10 on the spec sheet, but Google has moved the lineup further into flagship pricing. The standard Pixel 11 makes the most sense for a buyer who wants 256 GB of storage, Google's camera processing, and the full Android 17 experience without paying Pro money. The Pixel 11 Pro is the sharper choice for anyone who wants the new cameras and brighter display in a smaller phone. The Pro XL makes its case with its larger screen, bigger battery, and 512 GB option.

The launch offer makes the Pro models even more appealing. A good trade-in can pull the Pro or Pro XL closer to last year's pricing, while the Pixel Watch 5 discount adds value if you already want the watch. If you would rather buy another Google accessory later, the CA$275 credit keeps the benefit flexible. Google has made the Pro purchase the centre of this launch, and the promotion supports that strategy.

The standard Pixel 11 now starts at 256 GB, giving you more room for photos, video, and apps from day one. The Pixel 11 Pro starts CA$150 above the Pixel 10 Pro's Canadian launch price of CA$1,349. The Pro XL starts at CA$1,799, compared with CA$1,629 for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Google has moved the lineup upmarket, and the added storage and hardware make the new phones feel ready for several years of use.

The Pro and Pro XL offer runs through August 27, 2026. Google advertises up to CA$800 back with an eligible trade-in. The final amount depends on the phone you send and its condition. The second part of the promotion gives you a choice: take CA$350 off the new Pixel Watch 5, or take CA$275 in Google Store credit for a later purchase. You cannot turn the watch discount into cash, so choose the option that matches how you shop.

Pixel 11 vs Pixel 10: the specifications that matter

The new generation changes more than the model number, but the most useful gains sit in the processor, camera processing, display brightness, storage, and charging. Google's official Pixel phone comparison provides the full technical breakdown. This table keeps the comparison focused on the hardware you will notice in daily use.

Tensor G6 is the platform upgrade

Google has built the Pixel 11 around Tensor G6, a chip designed to run Google's AI features on the phone. Google says the new chip delivers up to 50% more computing power and a 50% faster AI engine. The practical promise matters more than the benchmark number: Gemini can work across your apps, the phone can translate video, podcasts, and voice messages, and Google's camera tools can capture and process more of the moment without sending every task to the cloud.

The new Titan M3 security chip adds post-quantum cryptography, while the modem aims to improve signal performance and power efficiency. Those changes will not show up in a spec-sheet screenshot, but they target two areas that have mattered to Pixel owners for years: battery drain and mobile reception. Google also keeps seven years of operating system and security updates, which gives the Pixel 11 a long software runway.

The camera is the real reason to look at the Pro

The standard Pixel 11 gets a new 48 MP wide camera and Google's claim of 56% better light sensitivity. It keeps a 13 MP ultrawide and a 10.8 MP 5x telephoto, then stretches to 30x Super Zoom. That gives the standard model a more complete camera system than a basic wide-and-ultrawide phone, and it lets Google position the Pixel 11 as a camera phone without requiring the Pro price.

The Pro models use a different class of hardware. Both include a 50 MP wide camera, a 48 MP ultrawide with Macro Focus, and a 48 MP 5x telephoto. Pro Zoom reaches 120x. Google also adds Instant Night Sight for faster low-light captures, Pro controls, high-resolution portrait photography, and 8K video recording through Video Boost on the Pro line. Those features make the Pro more than a larger Pixel 11. They give the phone more room to handle difficult lighting, distant subjects, and video work.

Magic Capture may become the most recognisable Pixel 11 camera feature. One tap records video and photos, then the phone edits, crops, unblurs, and curates the best moments into a collection. That workflow fits family events, trips, and fast-moving scenes where you want the memory without stopping to manage the camera. The feature reflects Google's broader Pixel strategy: use software to remove the decisions that get in the way of taking a photo.

Display, battery, and charging

The standard Pixel 11 keeps a 6.3-inch format and uses a 3,000-nit Actua display. It should read well outdoors, and the 60 to 120 Hz refresh range gives it the smooth scrolling people expect from a flagship. The Pixel 11 Pro also measures 6.3 inches, but it uses a sharper LTPO Super Actua panel with 3,600 nits of peak brightness. The Pro XL uses the same display class at 6.8 inches.

Google rates the Pixel 11 and both Pro phones for more than 30 hours of battery life. The Pro XL adds the larger cell that makes sense for a bigger display, while the standard Pixel 11 and Pro keep a more manageable footprint. All three use Pixelsnap and Qi2.2-certified wireless charging at up to 25 W. Google describes the Pixel 11 as up to 25% faster wirelessly than before, and the Pro models receive their own model-specific speed improvements.

Gemini Intelligence is now part of the phone's workflow

Pixel 11 launches with Android 17 and Gemini Intelligence. Google wants Gemini to handle more than a question-and-answer exchange. It can find information across your apps, add details to your calendar, clean up voice typing, and translate the video, podcast, or voice message you are watching or hearing. Google also gives the Pro models HiLight, a small status light that alerts you to important calls while the phone sits face down.

The phone still lets you control what data Gemini can use. That matters because the strongest Pixel 11 features depend on context. Google's advantage comes from connecting the assistant to the phone's camera, messages, Gmail, calendar, and settings. The value will depend on whether you want that connection, but the Pixel 11 clearly treats AI as part of the operating system instead of a separate app.

Design: familiar shape, cleaner hardware

Google keeps the Pixel camera bar, but the Pixel 11 trims its shape and gives the phone a smoother satin back. The standard Pixel 11 uses a polished metal frame and a polished back, while the Pro phones add a silky matte finish and a more substantial frame. All models carry IP68 dust and water resistance. The Pro XL looks like the right fit for someone who wants a large phone without moving to a foldable design.

Pixel fans will feel at home here. Google keeps the familiar camera bar and clean Android shape, then refreshes the details with a smoother back, a satin finish, and the new Tensor G6 platform.

Which Pixel 11 should you buy?

The standard Pixel 11 is the best entry point. CA$1,249 buys 256 GB, 12 GB of RAM, Tensor G6, the 30x camera system, and the same seven-year update promise as the Pro phones. It gives up the brighter LTPO panel, the Pro camera hardware, and HiLight, but it keeps the Pixel features that most buyers care about.

The Pixel 11 Pro is the most balanced model. It keeps the 6.3-inch size, adds the 50 MP and 48 MP Pro cameras, raises the screen to 3,600 nits, and unlocks the stronger launch promotion. If your current phone still works but your camera and storage feel limited, the Pro is the model to price with a trade-in first.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL is the specialist choice for a bigger screen, longer heavy-use sessions, and more storage. Its CA$1,799 starting price puts it firmly in premium flagship territory. The 512 GB version costs CA$1,969 and moves to 16 GB of RAM, which makes sense for a buyer who records a lot of video, keeps large offline libraries, or plans to hold the phone for years.

Should you upgrade from Pixel 10?

If you have a Pixel 10, the strongest reasons to upgrade are the Tensor G6 performance, better low-light photos, faster wireless charging, brighter Pro displays, larger starting storage, and new camera and Gemini tools. Those gains matter more to someone who shoots in low light, uses the phone for video, or wants a phone that can handle several more years of software features.

Pixel 9 owners and older Pixel users have a strong upgrade case. The Pixel 11 brings a newer modem, more storage, a brighter display, a longer update runway, and more capable camera hardware. The trade-in offer makes the Pro models the obvious place to start the comparison. The standard Pixel 11 still delivers the main software and processor upgrade at a lower price.

Bottom line

Google's Pixel 11 is a serious upgrade cycle for Canadian buyers. The standard phone starts at CA$1,249. The Pro starts at CA$1,499, and the Pro XL starts at CA$1,799. The Pro models add the cameras, displays, and storage choices that justify the premium, while Google's up-to-CA$800 trade-in offer helps close the price gap. Shop the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL on the Google Store before August 27 to choose the Pixel Watch 5 discount or the CA$275 Store credit.
