The court-approved settlement fund is $4.75 million Canadian. That fund is shared across approved claim categories and can be reduced pro rata if eligible claims exceed the available amount.
Who may be included?
The approved settlement covers people in Canada, including estates, who were prescribed and ingested REXULTI between February 16, 2017 and August 23, 2025. Family members may have separate rights under the applicable provincial or territorial family-law rules when a class member submits a claim.
The class action concerns alleged compulsive or pathological gambling, hypersexuality, binge-eating and compulsive shopping or spending after Rexulti use. The settlement materials refer to these as Compulsive Behaviours and Impulse Control Disorders. The allegations have not been proven at trial, and the defendants deny liability.
What settlement benefits can cover
The court-approved notice says the settlement fund can pay approved claims for mild, moderate or severe psychological harm, residual catastrophic injury and eligible financial loss. The financial-loss category can include provable gambling losses, income or employment loss and loans incurred because of gambling caused or worsened by Rexulti, subject to the protocol and proof requirements.
- Psychological harm: the claim package uses categories with different evidence and maximum-payment rules.
- Catastrophic injury: the protocol describes serious physical or psychological consequences, including examples such as hospitalization related to suicidality or transmission of an infection connected to hypersexuality.
- Financial loss: you need records that show the behaviour and the financial loss, plus the required attestations or third-party documents.
- Family-class claims: spouses, children, parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters may be able to claim when the class member files and proves the relationship.
What documents should you gather?
The exact documents depend on the claim category, but the administrator and distribution protocol commonly require proof of the Rexulti prescription or use, records showing the compulsive behaviour, and documents supporting the harm or loss. Start collecting records now instead of waiting for the deadline.
- Prescription records, pharmacy records, receipts or other proof showing the Rexulti treatment period.
- Medical, counselling or treatment records that describe the behaviour, its timing and the care received.
- Bank, credit-card, casino, online-gambling or ATM records for claimed gambling losses.
- Income-tax returns, employment records and employer attestations for an income or employment loss claim.
- Loan statements or lender attestations for a loan-loss claim.
- Relationship and authority documents for family members, minors, people under legal disability or estates.
How to file a Rexulti claim
- Start with the official settlement website: rexulticlassactionsettlement.com hosts the claim package, notices, settlement agreement and distribution protocol.
- Read the right claim category: the form asks for different information depending on psychological harm, catastrophic injury, financial loss and family-class claims.
- Attach your proof: upload or send the records required for your category and keep a complete copy of everything you submit.
- Submit to MNP: MNP Ltd. is the court-appointed administrator. Use the contact information on the settlement website or the administrator's page for questions about your filing.
- Save the confirmation: keep your claim confirmation, tracking number, uploaded documents and any follow-up email together until distribution is complete.
The MNP administrator page lists the claim-package resources and administrator contact details. The Rochon Genova update is the source for the August 27 deadline extension.
What the court's approval means
The Superior Court of Québec approved the settlement as fair, reasonable and in the best interests of class members. The approval created a compensation process, but the court did not decide that the defendants caused the alleged harm. The settlement is a compromise of disputed claims, and the defendants deny the allegations.
Class members who remain bound by the settlement release covered claims against the defendants under the settlement terms. Read the approval documents and distribution protocol before filing if you need to understand the legal effect of participating.
Do you need a lawyer to submit a claim?
The settlement process provides a claim package and administrator contact for class members. Canooq cannot assess an individual legal claim or tell you whether a separate lawsuit is better. If your situation involves a serious injury, complex financial loss, an estate or a question about the release, contact class counsel or another lawyer before you submit.
Bottom line
If you used Rexulti in Canada between February 16, 2017 and August 23, 2025 and experienced compulsive gambling, hypersexuality, binge-eating or compulsive shopping or spending, check the settlement now. The current class-counsel update gives you until August 27, 2026 to submit a claim, while older notices still show July 27. Use the official Rexulti settlement website and save proof of your prescription, behaviour, harm and financial losses.
