Rogers credit cards will discontinue their coveted 1.5x cashback redemption bonus from November

August 27, 2026
Rogers credit cards will earn 5% on eligible Rogers purchases from November 18, but the 1.5x redemption bonus and some World Elite travel benefits are ending.

ROGERS BANK UPDATE
The value is moving to Rogers purchases
- Eligible Rogers purchases earn 5% from November 18, 2026.
- The 1.5x redemption bonus ends on the same date, including for older transactions.
- Roam Like Home days become annual credits of $25 to $200 on January 12, 2027.
Run the numbers before November 18
Use your own Rogers bill and regular monthly spending to compare the new value.
What's on this page
Rogers Bank is adding 5% cash back on eligible Rogers purchases on November 18, 2026 while removing the 1.5x redemption bonus. World Elite also loses three trip coverages, and Roam Like Home days become annual credits on January 12, 2027.
Rogers Bank is raising the cash back rate on eligible Rogers purchases to 5% on November 18, 2026. On the same day, it will remove the 1.5x redemption bonus that currently turns 2% cash back into 3% when eligible customers redeem against Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave purchases.
The 5% rate is a real upgrade for a large Rogers bill. It is a cut for cardholders who use the current redemption bonus on rewards earned from groceries, gas and other everyday spending.
The short version
- Eligible Rogers purchases earn 5%: The new rate starts November 18, 2026 and remains subject to the annual earn cap on each card.
- The 1.5x redemption bonus ends: Rewards redeemed on or after November 18 will be worth one cent per point, even against an older transaction.
- World Elite loses three trip coverages: Trip cancellation, trip interruption and trip delay insurance will no longer be included.
- World Elite gets longer emergency medical coverage: Travellers age 64 and under get up to 15 days per trip, up from 10 days.
- Roam Like Home becomes a dollar credit: Annual credits range from $25 on Rogers Red to $200 on World Legend starting January 12, 2027.
The new 5% rate does not replace the full value of 1.5x redemptions
Eligible Rogers customers currently earn 2% on regular Canadian-dollar purchases with the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard. Redeeming that cash back against an eligible Rogers purchase multiplies its value by 1.5, producing an effective 3% return.
From November 18, regular purchases keep earning 2%, eligible Rogers purchases earn 5%, and every point redeems at face value.
Rogers Red World Elite example: current rules versus November 18
Example uses $2,000 in other eligible monthly purchases and a $200 eligible Rogers bill.
| Monthly spending | Current rules | From November 18, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| $2,000 in other eligible purchases | $40 earned, worth $60 with 1.5x redemption | $40 |
| $200 eligible Rogers bill | $4 earned, worth $6 with 1.5x redemption | $10 |
| Total monthly value | $66 | $50 |
| Total annual value | $792 | $600 |
That spending mix loses $16 a month, or $192 a year. The break-even point arrives when eligible Rogers purchases equal half of all other card spending. Put another way, Rogers purchases must make up one-third of the total charged to the card.
A household with $1,000 in other monthly purchases and $500 in eligible Rogers purchases earns $45 under either system. With a $200 Rogers bill, the new structure only matches or beats the current one when other monthly card spending is $400 or less.
The 5% category includes bill payments to Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave, online purchases from Rogers or Fido, TSC purchases, direct subscriptions to Sportsnet+, Citytv+ or Discovery+, and purchases from a Jays Shop location at Rogers Centre. It excludes in-store Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave purchases, Toronto Blue Jays tickets, and discounted Rogers Preferred Program wireless plans.
Annual earn caps
Spending above the card's annual cap earns the applicable 1% base rate, including eligible Rogers purchases.
| Rogers card | Annual earn cap |
|---|---|
| Rogers Red Mastercard | $16,000 |
| Rogers Red World Mastercard | $26,000 |
| Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard | $61,000 |
Redeem at 1.5x before November 18
Saving an older Rogers transaction in the app will not preserve the bonus. Rogers Bank's notice says the one-cent rate applies to every redemption made on or after November 18, even when the transaction posted before the change.
The minimum redemption remains $10, and the transaction generally must have posted within the previous 90 days. After the change, the 5% rewards arrive when an eligible Rogers purchase posts, so cardholders no longer need to reserve all their cash back for a Rogers bill.
World Elite loses cancellation, interruption and delay insurance
The Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard will drop trip cancellation, trip interruption and trip delay coverage on November 18, 2026. Travel booked and charged to the card before that date remains subject to the current certificate for eligible claims, even when the trip happens later.
Emergency medical coverage improves for younger travellers. The maximum trip length for travellers age 64 and under rises from 10 days to 15 days, while the stability period for a pre-existing medical condition falls from six months to 90 days. For travellers age 65 to 74, the trip-length limit stays the same and the stability period falls from one year to 150 days.
The new certificate also adds rental-car exclusions, including cars rented or driven in Jamaica, natural disasters, pollution and events known when the rental agreement begins. World Legend keeps trip cancellation, interruption and delay coverage under its separate certificate.
Roam Like Home days become annual roaming credits
On January 12, 2027, Rogers Bank will remove unused Roam Like Home days and replace them with annual dollar credits. The credits can be applied to eligible Rogers roaming services, including Travel Passes and daily Roam Like Home charges.
Roaming benefit by Rogers card
Unused Roam Like Home days disappear on January 12, 2027 rather than carrying into the new credit system.
| Rogers credit card | Current annual benefit | Credit from January 12, 2027 | Change in maximum advertised value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rogers Red Mastercard | 5 days, up to $90 | $25 | -$65 |
| Rogers Red World Mastercard | 5 days, up to $90 | $50 | -$40 |
| Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard | 5 days, up to $90 | $75 | -$15 |
| Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard | 10 days, up to $180 | $200 | +$20 |
The fixed credit is easier to use on a short trip because one or two roaming days no longer leave the rest of the benefit stranded. Frequent roamers lose potential value on every personal tier except World Legend. The Rogers Red World Elite Business Mastercard receives a $75 annual credit in place of five days.
Each credit resets on the anniversary of the account opening date, or the product-switch anniversary for cardholders who changed Rogers cards.
Who gains and who loses
The new structure works best for cardholders with large eligible Rogers bills and modest spending elsewhere. Several mobile lines, internet, television and eligible streaming services can push the 5% rate past the value of the redemption bonus it replaces.
World Elite cardholders who use the card as a 3%-value flat-rate card take the largest hit. Their 2% earn rate stays in place, but regular spending loses the 1.5x lift. They also need another source of trip cancellation, interruption and delay coverage for travel booked from November 18 onward.
World Legend gets the cleanest roaming result. Its benefit rises from an advertised maximum of $180 for 10 days to a $200 credit, while the card keeps its broader travel insurance. The $495 annual fee still has to earn its place in the budget.

Bottom line
The $2,200 monthly example loses $192 a year after the cutover. A $44 reward balance is worth $66 with the multiplier and $44 after it disappears. Cash it out while the higher value is still available, then decide whether the replacement math earns the card a place in your wallet.
