Weekly Money Opportunities in Canada: September 7 to 14, 2026

This is a particularly strong week for Canadian savings: nine free months of Skip+ with code TOMSP9, LEGO markdowns as low as $11.99, targeted Borrowell bonuses up to $300 and a $20 Public Mobile plan are all on the list. The best deadlines are close, so start with the offers that expire first.

Students and educators still have excellent savings on Staples, Apple, Amazon Prime and UNiDAYS, while Wealthsimple's September condo draw offers a prize worth about $783,900. Here are nine high-value money opportunities to act on from September 7 to 14, plus Canooq's monthly budget planner if September spending needs a reset.

1. Get nine months of Skip+ free with SPC using code TOMSP9

Students with an SPC membership can claim nine free months of Skip+ with promo code TOMSP9. The membership includes $0 delivery fees on eligible restaurant orders and access to member-only offers. At the regular $9.99 monthly price, the promotion is worth almost $90 before tax.

Open the SPC offer, sign in if prompted, and follow the redemption instructions for your Skip account. Use TOMSP9 when the redemption flow asks for the promotion code. It is a strong semester-long perk if you already use Skip for group orders, late study nights or meals between classes.

2. Grab three LEGO sets for up to 50% off on Amazon

Amazon has three standout LEGO markdowns this week, led by a Wicked set at half price:

• LEGO Botanicals Sunflowers is $11.99. The 191-piece set builds two sunflowers and makes an easy under-$15 gift.
• LEGO Wicked Glinda's Wedding Day is $24.97, down from $49.99. That is 50% off a 476-piece set with Glinda and Elphaba minidolls.
• LEGO Bluey's Family House is $59.97, down from $89.99, a saving of $30.02. The 382-piece playset includes Bluey, Bingo, Mum and Dad figures.

Glinda's Wedding Day is the headline deal, but all three hit appealing birthday and early holiday-gift prices. Amazon has not posted an end date for the markdowns.

3. Check Borrowell for up to $300 in credit-card bonuses

This week's biggest possible cash offer is hiding inside Borrowell. Some members are seeing two separate $150 cash bonuses when applying for eligible credit cards through their personalized Borrowell offers, for up to $300 total. The reported selection includes more than 60 cards.

Open the credit-card offers in your Borrowell account and look for the $150 bonus labels. Borrowell's cash can stack with the cards' own welcome offers, creating an unusually strong double dip. Availability is targeted, and each application remains subject to the card issuer's approval and credit check.

4. Get Public Mobile's $20 phone plan before it disappears

Public Mobile's lowest-priced back-to-school plan ends September 7. It costs $20 per month and includes 1 GB of data at 4G speed, unlimited Canada-wide talk and text, and 2% back in Public Points. There is no device contract because Public Mobile is prepaid.

One gigabyte is modest, but the price makes sense for someone who spends most of the day on campus or home Wi-Fi. Moving from a $50 plan to $20 saves $360 over a year. Public Mobile also lists ongoing plans at $24 for 5 GB, $28 for 10 GB and $30 for 35 GB, which are better choices if 1 GB would force you to buy add-ons.

The same page currently has a $35 Canada-U.S.-Mexico plan with 25 GB, unlimited talk and text, and 1,000 international minutes. Public Mobile labels that one as a back-to-school offer but does not show a firm end date.

5. Teachers can take 20% off a $75 Staples purchase through September 10

Members of the free Staples Teacher Membership Program can save 20% on a purchase of at least $75 through September 10. The program covers public-school teachers, staff and faculty from kindergarten through postsecondary, eligible private-school staff, and parent educators or home teachers.

The coupon works in Canadian stores and on Staples.ca after membership verification. It excludes computers, software, peripherals, machinery, clearance merchandise and several named brands and services, so it is strongest for notebooks, writing supplies, classroom storage, décor and other ordinary supplies.

Staples' general back-to-school page is also advertising savings of up to 55% on writing supplies, up to 30% on select binders and up to $400 on laptops and desktops. Those deals do not require teacher status, although individual products can change as stock sells through.

6. Get up to a $210 Apple Gift Card with education pricing

Apple's Canadian education promotion runs through September 24, leaving a little more time for students who waited to see what their courses actually require.

Eligible purchasers receive a $140 Apple Gift Card with a MacBook Air, iPad Air or iPad Pro, or a $210 Apple Gift Card with a MacBook Pro. The purchase also uses Apple's education pricing. Eligible buyers include postsecondary students who are attending or accepted into a Canadian institution, postsecondary faculty and staff, and parents buying for an eligible postsecondary student. Employees of public and private K-12 schools also qualify for education purchasing.

That puts as much as $210 in extra Apple credit on top of education pricing, one of the biggest remaining back-to-school offers. Refurbished and open-box products are excluded, and each qualified purchaser can claim one promotional Mac and one promotional iPad.

7. Claim six free months of Amazon Prime if you are a student or 19 to 24

Amazon is offering a six-month Prime trial to verified students and Canadians aged 19 to 24. After the trial, the membership renews at $4.99 per month, half the regular $9.99 monthly price, unless it is cancelled.

The timing is useful for textbooks, dorm supplies and late back-to-school purchases. Compared with paying the regular monthly price for the same 12 months, an eligible person who uses the full trial and then keeps the reduced rate for six months saves about $90 before tax.

8. Verify UNiDAYS once and unlock nearly 100 student discounts

UNiDAYS is free and currently lists Canadian student offers across technology, clothing, food and travel. Its live offers include 20% off Garmin, 15% off Gymshark, 15% off full-price Levi's, 15% off Salomon, and 10% off UGG and eligible Logitech purchases.

Students register with a personal email, verify their status and receive 12 months of access before reverification is required. This is especially useful after the broad retailer sales end because the discount follows the student's eligibility rather than the back-to-school calendar.

9. Enter Wealthsimple's September condo draw

Wealthsimple's Monthly Millionaire prize for September 10 is a one-bedroom Toronto condo with a stated approximate value of $783,900. Entries for that draw close September 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Registering and holding at least $1 in a Wealthsimple chequing account provides 500 entries. Net deposits add one entry per dollar, qualifying referrals add 100,000 entries and the in-app coin can add more. Wealthsimple also provides a no-purchase entry method in the official rules. Entries continue into later September draws, including three more condos, and the contest remains open through September 30.

The condo must be accepted as awarded and has no cash alternative. Wealthsimple covers specified legal and closing costs, while the winner takes on future costs such as condo fees, property tax, insurance and utilities.

Freedom Mobile's back-to-school page currently lists a $35 plan with 35 GB of Canada-wide data and 1 GB of roaming in more than 120 destinations when financing a phone for 24 months. Bringing your own phone reduces the included data to 10 GB. Public Mobile's $30 plan with 35 GB is the cleaner comparison for someone who already owns a device, while Freedom's offer can fit someone who was going to finance a phone anyway.

Food Basics also continues to advertise a 10% student discount on select days at participating locations. This one varies by store, so check the participating-location list before planning a weekly grocery trip around it.
