What's on this page

July 2026 includes payment dates for CGEB, OTB, ACWB, CDB, CCB, NLDB, CPP, OAS and veteran disability pensions. Many amounts depend on the 2025 tax return, family situation, province, age, disability status or CPP contribution history.

July is an important month for Canadian benefit payments because several federal and provincial programs either pay out during the month or start a new benefit year. For many CRA benefits, July 2026 payments are based on your 2025 tax return, which means your income, family situation and province of residence can change the amount you receive.

This guide covers the main benefit payments Canadians may receive in July 2026, including the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, Ontario Trillium Benefit, Canada Disability Benefit, Canada Child Benefit, CPP and Old Age Security. If you want a personalized screening list after reading the calendar, open Canooq's Canadian Benefit Eligibility Checker.

The exact amount you receive can be lower than the maximum shown here. In most cases, your payment depends on your adjusted family net income, marital status, number of children, province or territory, age, disability status, or contribution history.

Check which benefits may fit your situation

Answer a few questions about your province, income, family situation, disability status, housing and age to see which benefits are worth checking next.

Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit

Payment date: July 3, 2026

The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit is the new name for what many Canadians previously knew as the GST/HST credit. It starts in July 2026 and is meant to help lower and modest-income Canadians with everyday costs. CRA says the CGEB keeps the same basic structure as the GST/HST credit, with higher amounts for five years. Check your broader benefit fit with Canooq's benefit checker if you are not sure whether CGEB is the only payment to review.

You do not usually need to apply separately. The CRA calculates eligibility using your tax return. For the July 2026 to June 2027 benefit year, your 2025 tax return is the key return.

Who qualifies

You may qualify if you are a resident of Canada for tax purposes and your income is low enough for the program. You generally need to be at least 19 years old, although some younger people may qualify if they have a spouse, common-law partner, or child.

You should file a tax return even if you had no income, because the CRA uses your return to calculate benefit eligibility.

How much you could receive

For the July 2026 to June 2027 payment period, the maximum annual amounts are:

Maximum annual CGEB amounts for July 2026 to June 2027

SituationMaximum annual amount
Single individual$679
Married or common-law couple$890
Each eligible child under 19$234

This is a quarterly benefit, so the July payment is usually one part of your annual entitlement. The amount may also include related provincial or territorial payments.

Ontario Trillium Benefit

Payment date: July 10, 2026

The Ontario Trillium Benefit, usually called the OTB, is a combined payment for three Ontario credits:

  • Ontario energy and property tax credit
  • Northern Ontario energy credit
  • Ontario sales tax credit

The July 2026 OTB payment starts the 2026 benefit year, which runs from July 2026 to June 2027 and is based on your 2025 tax return.

Who qualifies

You may qualify if you lived in Ontario and meet the conditions for at least one of the credits inside the OTB. The exact rules depend on the credit.

For example, renters and homeowners may qualify for the Ontario energy and property tax credit if they paid eligible rent, property tax, home energy costs, accommodation costs, or certain long-term care costs. Northern Ontario residents may qualify for the Northern Ontario energy credit. Lower and modest-income Ontario residents may also qualify for the Ontario sales tax credit.

You generally need to file your tax return and complete the Ontario benefit section where required.

How much you could receive

The amount varies because the OTB is not one single flat benefit. It depends on which credits you qualify for, your income, your age, where you live in Ontario, and your rent, property tax, or energy costs.

For the 2026 benefit year, the maximum Ontario sales tax credit is $378 per eligible adult or child. The Ontario energy and property tax credit can be worth up to $1,307 for non-seniors and up to $1,488 for seniors. The Northern Ontario energy credit can be worth up to $189 for a single person with no children or up to $290 for families.

Most people who receive the OTB get it monthly. If your annual entitlement is $500 or less, it is usually paid as one lump sum in July.

Advanced Canada Workers Benefit

Payment date: July 10, 2026

The Canada Workers Benefit is a refundable tax credit for eligible workers with low income. The Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, or ACWB, pays part of that benefit in advance instead of waiting until tax time.

If you qualified for the Canada Workers Benefit on your tax return, the CRA may automatically send advance payments. You do not usually need to apply separately for the advance payments.

Who qualifies

You may qualify for the Canada Workers Benefit if you earned working income, were a resident of Canada throughout the year, and your income is below the limit for your family situation and province or territory.

You generally must be at least 19 years old by the end of the year, unless you lived with your spouse, common-law partner, or child. Some people do not qualify, including many full-time students without dependants, people confined to prison for at least 90 days, and people who do not have to pay tax in Canada because of diplomatic status.

How much you could receive

For the 2025 tax year, the maximum basic Canada Workers Benefit is:

Maximum basic Canada Workers Benefit for 2025

SituationMaximum annual basic CWB
Single individual$1,633
Family$2,813

There is also a disability supplement of up to $843 for eligible people who qualify for the disability tax credit.

The advanced payment is not the full annual benefit. It is up to 50% of your annual CWB entitlement, paid across the scheduled ACWB payment dates. Your July amount depends on your tax return, income, province or territory, family situation and whether you qualify for the disability supplement.

Canada Disability Benefit

Payment date: July 16, 2026

The Canada Disability Benefit is a federal monthly benefit for eligible low-income people with disabilities. It is separate from the Child Disability Benefit and is aimed at working-age adults.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you generally must:

  • Be between 18 and 64 years old
  • Be approved for the disability tax credit
  • Have filed your 2025 federal income tax return
  • Have your spouse or common-law partner file their 2025 federal income tax return, if applicable
  • Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes
  • Meet the program's status requirements, such as being a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person, eligible temporary resident, or registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act

There are also special rules for people who are incarcerated.

How much you could receive

For the July 2026 to June 2027 payment period, the maximum monthly Canada Disability Benefit is $204.20.

The amount is income tested. That means not everyone receives the maximum. Your benefit is based on your adjusted family net income from your 2025 federal tax return, with certain working income exemptions.

If your annual entitlement is very small, the benefit may be paid as a lump sum rather than monthly.

Canada Child Benefit

Payment date: July 20, 2026

The Canada Child Benefit, or CCB, is a tax-free monthly payment for eligible families raising children under 18. July is especially important because the new CCB benefit year starts in July and is based on the previous year's adjusted family net income.

For July 2026 to June 2027, your CCB is based on your 2025 adjusted family net income. If your family situation changed, use Canooq's benefit checker as a first pass, then confirm final amounts in CRA My Account.

Who qualifies

You may qualify if you live with a child under 18 and are primarily responsible for the child's care and upbringing. You must also be a resident of Canada for tax purposes.

You, or your spouse or common-law partner, must meet a status condition, such as being a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person, eligible temporary resident, or a person registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act.

How much you could receive

For the July 2026 to June 2027 payment period, the maximum CCB is:

Maximum Canada Child Benefit for July 2026 to June 2027

Child's ageMaximum annual amountMaximum monthly amount
Under 6$8,157$679.75
Age 6 to 17$6,883$573.58

These maximums apply when adjusted family net income is under $38,237. Above that level, the payment is reduced based on income and the number of eligible children in the household.

Child Disability Benefit

If your child is eligible for the disability tax credit, you may also receive the Child Disability Benefit as part of your CCB payment.

For July 2026 to June 2027, the Child Disability Benefit can be up to $3,480 per year, or $290 per month, for each eligible child. It starts being reduced when adjusted family net income is above $82,847.

Provincial child benefits may be included

Some provincial and territorial child benefits are paid together with the CCB. For example, Ontario families may receive the Ontario Child Benefit with their CCB payment, and British Columbia families may receive the BC Family Benefit with their CCB payment.

These are not separate payment dates for most people. They are usually included with the CCB deposit.

Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit

Payment date: July 24, 2026

The Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit is a provincial benefit administered by the CRA. It is not a national benefit, but it is worth mentioning because it has a July payment date.

Who qualifies

You may qualify if you are a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador on the first day of the payment month, are at least 18 and under 65, have a valid disability tax credit certificate, and your adjusted family net income is under the program's limit.

How much you could receive

For July 2026 to June 2027, eligible individuals with adjusted family net income below $29,402 may receive a full monthly payment of $400. Partial payments may be available above that income level, up to the program limit.

Couples may also qualify, with special rules if one or both spouses or common-law partners qualify for the disability tax credit.

Canada Pension Plan

Payment date: July 29, 2026

Canada Pension Plan payments include more than just the standard retirement pension. The July 29, 2026 payment date applies to CPP retirement pension, CPP disability, children's benefits and survivor benefits.

Who qualifies

For the CPP retirement pension, you must have made at least one valid CPP contribution and be at least 60 years old. Your amount depends on how much and how long you contributed, your average earnings, and the age you choose to start CPP.

CPP disability, survivor and children's benefits have their own eligibility rules.

How much you could receive

For 2026, the maximum CPP retirement pension at age 65 is $1,507.65 per month. The average CPP retirement pension for new beneficiaries at age 65 was $925.35 per month for April to June 2026.

Most people do not receive the maximum. Your own amount depends on your CPP contribution history and when you start your pension.

Old Age Security

Payment date: July 29, 2026

Old Age Security, or OAS, is a monthly federal pension for eligible seniors. Unlike CPP, OAS is based mostly on age, legal status and years lived in Canada after age 18, not on employment contributions.

The July 29, 2026 payment date also applies to the Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor.

Who qualifies

You may qualify for OAS if you are 65 or older and meet the Canadian residence and legal status rules. You may receive a full or partial pension depending on how long you have lived in Canada after age 18.

Low-income OAS recipients may also qualify for the Guaranteed Income Supplement. Some people aged 60 to 64 may qualify for the Allowance or Allowance for the Survivor.

How much you could receive

OAS amounts are reviewed quarterly in January, April, July and October. The April to June 2026 maximum monthly OAS amounts were $743.05 for people aged 65 to 74 and $817.36 for people aged 75 and older.

For July to September 2026, OAS benefits increase by 1.2%. Based on that adjustment, the maximum OAS amounts are approximately:

Approximate maximum OAS amounts after the July 2026 increase

AgeApproximate maximum monthly OAS after July 2026 increase
65 to 74About $751.97
75 and olderAbout $827.17

OAS is taxable. Higher-income seniors may also have to repay part or all of their OAS through the OAS recovery tax.

Veteran disability pension

Payment date: July 30, 2026

The veteran disability pension is paid to eligible veterans and related recipients through Veterans Affairs Canada. This is not a general benefit for all Canadians, but it is part of the federal July benefit payment calendar.

Who qualifies

Eligibility depends on military or RCMP service, the nature of the disability, and how much the condition is related to service.

How much you could receive

The amount depends on the disability class, assessment level and family situation. Veterans Affairs Canada publishes detailed rate tables.

For example, 2026 monthly disability pension rates range widely depending on the class. A single recipient in Class 20 receives $175.67 per month, while a single recipient in Class 1 receives $3,513.48 per month. Additional amounts may apply for a spouse or dependent children.

Benefits that are not paid in July 2026

A few benefits can cause confusion because people remember previous payment schedules or because they are province-specific.

Canada Carbon Rebate

The Canada Carbon Rebate is not a July 2026 payment. The individual rebate program has closed, and the final scheduled payments were in 2025.

Alberta Child and Family Benefit

The Alberta Child and Family Benefit is not paid in July 2026. The 2026 payment dates are February 27, May 27, August 27 and November 27.

Why your July benefit amount may change

If your July payment is higher or lower than expected, the most common reason is that July starts a new benefit year for many CRA payments.

Your amount may change because of:

  • Your 2025 adjusted family net income
  • A change in marital status
  • A child turning 6, 18, or 19 depending on the program
  • A child being added to or removed from your household
  • A new disability tax credit approval or expiry
  • A move to another province or territory
  • A late or unfiled tax return
  • An OAS quarterly inflation adjustment
  • A reassessment of your tax return

The easiest way to check your exact amount is to log in to CRA My Account or My Service Canada Account, depending on the benefit. If you need a wider list of programs to review, run the Canadian Benefit Eligibility Checker before you start opening official pages one by one.

What to do if your July payment does not arrive

If you receive direct deposit, the payment usually appears on the official payment date. Cheques can take longer.

Before calling, check whether your address, direct deposit and tax return information are up to date. CRA also advises people to allow several business days before contacting them about a missing payment.

For CRA benefits, your tax return matters. If you or your spouse or common-law partner filed late, your payment may be delayed or paused until the CRA processes the return.

Bottom line

July 2026 is a busy benefit month in Canada. The main dates to watch are July 3 for the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, July 10 for Ontario Trillium and Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, July 16 for the Canada Disability Benefit, July 20 for the Canada Child Benefit, July 29 for CPP and OAS, and July 30 for veterans disability pensions.

For most people, the exact deposit amount is not a flat national number. It depends on your income, tax return, province, age, family situation, disability status or pension contribution history. If you rely on these payments, make sure your 2025 tax return is filed, your CRA and Service Canada accounts are updated, direct deposit is active, and use Canooq's benefit checker to catch programs you may otherwise overlook.
