What's on this page

Seven Canadian opportunities to act on this week: heat pump funding, World Cup clearance deals, a Ratehub card referral bonus, student grants, the first-time home-buyer GST/HST rebate, Wealthsimple promos and the Rexulti settlement claim.

This week's roundup covers seven Canadian money opportunities for July 27 to August 2, 2026. Start with the July 31 heat-pump deadline, then check World Cup clearance deals, Ratehub's card referral bonus, student grants, the new first-time home-buyer rebate, Wealthsimple's promos and the Rexulti settlement claim deadline.

1. Last chance for up to $15,000 toward a heat pump

The federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program is closing soon. For the federally delivered intake in Alberta, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, Quebec and Saskatchewan, July 31, 2026 is the last day to apply. Eligible homeowners who replace oil heating with an eligible electric heat pump can receive federal support, with the amount depending on the province, home and program route.

NRCan's participating-provinces page lists up to $15,000 in federal funding in participating jurisdictions. Ontario's co-delivered route can provide up to $15,000 in federal funding plus up to $10,000 in provincial funding through direct installation. Apply through the current provincial or territorial pathway rather than assuming the federally delivered route applies where you live.

Check the official heat-pump program page and the participating-provinces guide before the July 31 cutoff.

2. Find World Cup gear at up to 50% off

Foot Locker Canada has some of the best Canada jersey markdowns: a boys' Nike Canada 2026 replica jersey is $57.50 instead of $115, and the men's adidas Canada World Cup graphic jersey is $60 instead of $120. Sport Chek has Canada host hats from $15.88, a men's Canada host T-shirt at $21.88, a host hoodie at $49.88 and the men's third jersey at $100.97 instead of $135.

For hats, Lids Canada has Canada World Cup snapbacks and adjustable hats from $14.99 to $18.99, with several styles marked down by 50%. adidas Canada has Toronto host-city T-shirts at $30 instead of $60 and junior Vancouver and Toronto shirts at $28 instead of $55. Start with Foot Locker for jerseys, Lids for hats, and Sport Chek or adidas for host-city gear. The official FIFA Store sale has more tournament and team designs.

3. Get up to $50 through Ratehub's credit-card referral bonus

Ratehub's current referral program can pay up to $50 to both people when a referred applicant uses a unique Ratehub referral link, applies for a card carrying the Eligible for referral bonus badge and gets approved by the issuer. Ratehub pays the cash bonus by e-transfer, and the card's own welcome bonus remains separate.

Ratehub's current promotion list includes cards with different strengths. The American Express Cobalt is built for groceries, dining and food delivery, with up to 15,000 welcome points and strong category earn rates. The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite is aimed at travel, with a first-year fee rebate, a $100 Expedia for TD travel credit and four lounge visits. The RBC Avion Visa Infinite offers flexible Avion points and up to 55,000 points in the current promotion guide. The BMO CashBack World Elite Mastercard focuses on cash back, groceries, gas and recurring bills.

The badge controls referral eligibility, not the size of a card's welcome offer. Compare the cards on the Canooq credit cards page, then open Ratehub's live card list to confirm the badge before applying.

4. Apply for up to $4,200 in student grants

Full-time students with financial need can receive up to $4,200 per year, or $525 per month of study, through the end of the 2026 to 2027 school year. The Canada Student Grant is non-repayable, and the government automatically assesses you when you apply for student aid through your province or territory.

You generally need to attend a qualified program at a designated school, study full-time and fall below the applicable family-income threshold. The federal program does not apply in Quebec, Nunavut or the Northwest Territories, which operate their own student-aid systems. Start with the official full-time student grant page and apply through the student-aid office for your province or territory.

5. First-time buyers can claim the new GST/HST rebate

Eligible first-time buyers can now recover up to $50,000 of the GST or federal part of the HST on a new or substantially renovated home used as a primary residence. Homes priced at or below $1 million can qualify for the full rebate. Between $1 million and $1.5 million, the rebate shrinks gradually, and homes priced at $1.5 million or more do not qualify for this new first-time-buyer rebate.

The CRA says the purchase agreement generally must be entered into on or after March 20, 2025 and before 2031. You must meet the first-time-buyer test, and the claim is filed through the builder or the CRA depending on the transaction. Read the CRA rebate guide before closing so the rebate is handled in the right application.

6. Stack the current Wealthsimple promos

Wealthsimple's Monthly Millionaire contest runs every month, with the August contest starting on July 30. Register, open and fund an eligible chequing account to receive 500 starter entries. Net deposits and transfers add entries, successful referrals add 5,000 entries, direct deposit doubles your entries, and the monthly cap is 100,000 entries.

Wealthsimple also lists a 1% match on eligible investment-account transfers. Register first, transfer at least $25,000 from another investment institution within 30 days, and the match can reach $20,000 on up to $2 million in qualifying transfers. The referral program pays a $25 base bonus to each side when a new client funds an eligible account with at least $100 from an external source within 30 days.

7. File a Rexulti settlement claim by August 27

The Canada-wide Rexulti settlement has a current claim deadline of August 27, 2026. The $4.75 million settlement covers eligible people who used Rexulti in Canada between February 16, 2017 and August 23, 2025 and experienced compulsive gambling, hypersexuality, binge-eating or compulsive shopping or spending. Estates and some family members may also qualify.

Class counsel's July 21 update gives August 27 as the deadline, although older approval materials show July 27. Read Canooq's Rexulti Canadian class action guide for the eligibility rules, compensation categories, documents and filing steps, then submit through the official settlement website.
